Ilia Mirkin, the prolific independent contributor to Mesa who started off on improvements to the Nouveau open-source NVIDIA driver a few years ago and has also contributed to Freedreno, has now turned to Intel's SWR Gallium3D software rasterizer as his latest target.

Mirkin remains one of the most prolific open-source contributors to Mesa not associated with any of the companies like AMD, Intel, Collabora, etc but just working on Mesa and the open-source Linux graphics stack in his spare time.

With this patch series published over the weekend, Mirkin has 14 patches lined up affecting several hundred lines of code in the SWR Gallium3D software rasterizer. The patches improve texture resource manipulation and redoes the surface layout for the SWR driver. The patches also prep for other potential performance improvements.

The good news from these patches alone is that they fix around 600 Piglit tests! Great job Ilia.
