The HTC Vive was supposed to ship with Linux support but that hadn't materialized... But it looks like it now has. Valve is expected to show off a VR Linux demo during this week's Steam Dev Days event in Seattle.

Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais who is heavily involved in their Linux/SteamOS/Vulkan efforts has tweeted a photo overnight where it clearly shows a PC with a hand-written note of "Linux VR demo", among other hardware.

Pierre-Loup Griffais had captioned the photo with "Busy day tomorrow! #SteamDevDays #Vulkan."

The Steam Dev Days are happening this week in Seattle where VR is one of the hot topics. The Linux VR demo is almost surely with the HTC Vive given Valve's involvement with the device. It's great to see Linux support apparently finally coming to it and we can't wait to be able to test it at Phoronix.

It will also be interesting to see if Valve announces any of their other titles ported to Vulkan or related interesting announcements from Steam Dev Days 2016, stay tuned.
