Earlier today Valve announced a weekend sale for SteamOS games.

A little over 30 games are now available for between 33 and 80 percent off. No word yet on whether the games on sale will change day by day but current highlights include the recently updated Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 2, Outlast, Dead Island, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequal, Dying Light, Garry's Mod, Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor, Civilization 5, Bioshock: Infnite, Dying Light, Ark and Metro 2033 Redux.

Shadow of Mordor was just released for Linux today and is in the process of being tested.

The sale page is available here if wanting to pick up some discounted Linux games for some weekend gaming.

On a related note for Linux gamers, Race The Sun is available on Steam for free for one day.

Flippfly, the developers behind the popular reaction-game Race The Sun, has decided to make their game Race The Sun available for free on Steam, for one day only. Until 1pm PDT on July 31, 2015 users can add the game to their library at no cost.

Race The Sun pits players in a solar powered aircraft that has to traverse through increasingly difficult, procedurally generated, levels using only their quick reactions and available power-ups to guide them as they race the setting sun. The game ends when the player slams into an object and is destroyed, or when the sun finally sets and their ship loses power. Quick reactions are the name of the game for this one.

This give away is timed with the recently release of their “Sunrise DLC” which describes itself as a “ 'zen' type mode” that removes the danger of the setting sun but adds extra difficulty to the levels. Sunrise DLC also adds in the concept of Leaderboards, a first person camera view, and a “High Scores In The Sky” setting which allows you to literally see, in-game, when you fly past a friend's high score.

You can grab the game for the next day via the Steam Store.
