Understanding Systemd's Event Loop API

Lennart Poettering has put out a new blog post today to better explain sd-event, the systemd Event Loop API.

The sd-event event loop API has been stable and documented since systemd 221 (as of this week, we're up to systemd 228). The sd-event event loop is used bysd-bus and the rest of systemd as a replacement to their original event loop wrapped around Linux epoll.
