Steven Rostedt is seeking to add the TraceFS file-system to the Linux 4.1 kernel with a pull request sent in today for Linus Torvalds.

TraceFS has been baking for a while and it just missed being added to Linux 4.0, so now it's being sought after for Linux 4.1 by users of the Linux kernel's tracing subsystem. TraceFS is to replace functionality currently relying on DebugFS, as previously mentioned on Phoronix within TraceFS: The Newest Linux File-System.

TraceFS weighs in at under one thousand lines of code and can be found right now via this pull request. Rostedt also sent in today the tracing updates for Linux 4.1 that separate from the TraceFS work is a relatively minor update for this cycle.
