The second point release to the Long Term Support Ubuntu 14.04 release was announced today. On the same day, Ubuntu 15.04 entered its feature freeze.

Ubuntu developer Adam Conrad announced the release of Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. This new Ubuntu 14.04 LTS release includes an updated kernel and X stack for better supporting new hardware across all of Ubuntu's supported architectures. The Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS release also contains various stable bug/security fixes relevant to the platform.

Assuming you're not on Ubuntu 14.10 or running a development snapshot of Ubuntu 15.04, find out more or download the new Long Term Support release via the mailing list announcement.

Coincidentally, today also marks the feature freeze for the Vivid Vervet, a.k.a. Ubuntu 15.04. While feature freeze exception bugs are still permitted, from now through April the vast majority of Ubuntu 15.04 / Vivid's development will be focused on bug fixing and polishing. The Ubuntu 15.04 feature freeze was announced by Scott Kitterman on the behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team via this mailing list announcement.
