Using LXD Containers On Ubuntu 15.04

While much of the media attention as of late when it comes to Ubuntu Linux has been about their mobile endeavors, they are continuing to innovate on other fronts as well and with this week's release of Ubuntu 15.04 is the initial work on LXD for those interested in containers.

Back in November was when it was made public about Canonical working on LXD as a new Linux hypervisor derived from LXC. With the Ubuntu 15.04 debut, LXD 0.7 is ready to enter the spotlight. Canonical's Stephane Graber blogged today about the initial LXD experience on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet.

Compared to LXC, LXD makes the environment secure by default, completely reworks the tools to make them simpler and less confusing, relies on container images rather than using templates, and provides full checkpoint/restore support.
