Ubuntu 16.10 Officially Released
Ubuntu 16.10 continues using Unity 7 by default but has the experimental Unity 8 + Mir desktop option. With Unity 7 there are some GNOME 3.22/3.20 packages upgraded throughout the stack.
I can't think of any "killer feature" to Ubuntu 16.10 but rather on the desktop side is just a lot of package updates while Canonical continues investing in their mobile/convergence strategy atop Unity 8. Ubuntu 16.10 does use the Linux 4.8 kernel, which is the latest stable release and is pleasant for providing the latest open-source graphics driver support and a ton of other improvements. Sadly, Ubuntu 16.10 ships with Mesa 12.0 since 12.1/13.0 didn't make it out in time. Ubuntu 16.10 also isn't shipping Vulkan support by default but packages are available via the universe repository.
