Mark Shuttleworth has posted a very short blog post where he seems to reveal the Ubuntu 16.10 codename.

With Ubuntu 16.04 shipping today, attention by Canonical and Ubuntu developers is quickly turning to the next six-month installment, Ubuntu 16.10. Normally Mark reveals the next Ubuntu codename in a lengthy blog post highlighting the plans for the next six months of development, how the codename relates to their next release's focus, etc.

But this evening Mark posted just a very short blog post where at first I wasn't sure if he was serious or not about the Ubuntu 16.10 codename.

His post in full reads, "Yakkety yakkety yakkety yakkety yakkety yakkety yakkety yakkety yak. Naturally."

So it appears that Ubuntu 16.10 is codenamed the Yakkety Yak. It will be interesting to see if the Yakkety Yak release completes their convergence vision and rolls out Mir + Unity 8 to the desktop by default. More details on Ubuntu 16.10 should become public at next month's UOS summit.
