Canonical and Meizu have announced today the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition as their new high-end smartphone

While we've been looking forward to the Bq Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Tablet at Mobile World Congress this year, the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition is now the new, high-end smartphone.

The Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 big.LITTLE processor, 5.7-inch AMOLED HD display, 21MP rear camera / 5MP front camera, 3GB of 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage with microSD card slot. Pre-orders on the phone will start next week during MWC 2016.

Sadly, the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition doesn't have any native convergence support as part of the Ubuntu Phone vision. The pricing information on the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition also hasn't been revealed yet, but we should know more next week.

More details on the Meizu PRO 5 in general with it currently available as an Android phone can be found via Meizu.com.
