Besides Canonical developers having released a new version of Mir, they've also continued concurrently advancing the Unity 8 UI.

Kevin Gunn shared a Unity 8 and Mir status update this week. For desktop users, Unity 8 is receiving a bit more attention. Kevin shared that there's been work around Unity 8 for desktop configurations with regard to listening for devices like keyboards and mice as well as rememberizing window size/placement.

Unity 8 code has also been written for full-shell rotation and that's still in the process of getting squared away. There's also been working down Unity 8 bugs for their next over-the-air update of Ubuntu Phone.

This rather small update concerning Unity 8 can be found via the ubuntu-phone mailing list.
