While we continue to wait on the release of VLC 3, some improvements for the media player's support of Google's Chromecast devices have landed.

Arriving in Git this morning is a variety of improvements to VLC's Chromecast code.

VLC now keeps better track of the state of the device, better handling in case loading the media fails, better connection handling, some code cleaning, and a variety of other improvements.

It's great to see these improvements as last time I tried VLC with Chromecast the experience was less than ideal. I continue to enjoy Google Chromecast devices and have them hooked up to most of my TVs; if you're interested, you can find both generations of the Chromecast at NewEgg.
