WAYLAND
Bryce Harrington has released the first development version of the forthcoming Wayland 1.7 along with the adjoining Weston reference compositor.

As outlined a few days back on Phoronix, Bryce is managing Wayland/Weston 1.7 over at Samsung. Following this Wayland/Weston 1.7 Alpha release, the plan is to release the 1.7 Release Candidate 1 around the end of January, 1.7 RC2 around 6 February, and to officially put out Wayland/Weston 1.7.0 around 13 February.

As noted by the Wayland 1.7 Alpha 1 announcement, this quarterly update to Wayland isn't particularly compelling... Wayland had mostly just a lot of documentation updates along with improvements to some tests. Weston meanwhile now depends against libinput 0.8, adds the IVI Shell, adds a new Presentation Extension, fixes full-scree applications/games with XWayland, the headless compositor now supports rendering with Pixman, and various other compositor changes.
