With Wine 1.7.36 having been released on Friday, the Wine-Staging crew released their respective updated version of Wine patched with experimental features.

Besides being based on Wine 1.7.36, there's some new staging functionality besides earlier features like CUDA and PhysX support, D3D CSMT, a driver testing framework, etc. New to this two-week Wine-Staging update is Threadpool support, NVIDIA NVENC support, and the CUDA wrapper has been upgraded to CUDA 7.

The Threadpool API framework is to Windows Vista and newer and provides various features to ease the development of multi-threaded programs. This Threadpool support will allow newer multi-threaded Windows programs to work better/properly under Wine.

The NVIDIA Linux 346 driver series added NVENC support as a video encode API (rather than VDPAU focusing on video decode) for NVIDIA Kepler and Maxwell graphics cards.

Added to the Wine staging codebase for this release is a nvencodeapi.dll implementation to make use of the NVIDIA GPU encoding with its v5.0 API. The staging area's CUDA wrapper has also been updated against NVIDIA CUDA 7.
