While back in January, Keith Packard talked about X.Org Server 1.18 being a quicker release, it's turned out to be far from it.

Keith at the start of the year was planning to do something shorter than their usual six-month release cadence, but in reality that's turned out to be the opposite... It's going to be a 9~10 month release. Keith surprisingly did the X.Org Server 1.18 RC1 release candidate last night and simply mentioned as the release announcement, "Here's 1.18 RC1. Let's figure out when to release this during XDC."

XDC2015 is coming up in two weeks in Canada, so we should know then when that release will happen. Unfortunately I'll just be providing remote coverage once again due to the tightened budget from ad blockers, etc. See my past X.Org Server 1.18 articles for more details on this forthcoming release.
