Libvpx 1.5.0 was released yesterday as the newest version of Google's VP9 encoder/decoder.

The libvpx 1.5.0 release is codenamed the "Javan Whistling Duck" and has "substantial" speed and quality improvements to the VP9 encoder and improvements to the VP9 decoding performance. This libvpx update also has a new screen content mode, new codec controls, and more. This release does break ABI compatibility with libvpx 1.4 and older.

While Google has been pushing experimental VP10 support into libvpx, this VP10 codec support was removed from the libvpx 1.5.0 release as it's still under development.

More details via the release announcement.
