XTracGear Carbonic, Ripper & Ripper XXL

It's been nearly a decade since last checking out any XTrac products (the last being the XTrac InstaGlide and XTrac Hybrid back in 2005) but with 2014 rapidly marking the evolution of Linux gaming, this weekend we're checking out a few XtracPads for those that may be looking to improve their Linux gaming system.

XTracGear sent over their XTracPads' Carbonic, Ripper, and Ripper XXL mouse pads. These pads are some higher-end gaming mouse pads designed to offer maximum performance, portability, and longevity, among other features. The Ripper XXL meanwhile is easily the largest usable mouse pad I've ever seen.

Starting off with the XTracGear Carbonic, it's a polished textile "precision mouse surface" that measures in at the size of a standard piece of paper (8.5 x 11 inches) while being 1/8-inch thick. The backing on this gaming mouse pad is an Enhanced Sure Grip open-celled rubber backing. XTracGear advertises the Carbonic as being soft, comfortable, and extremely durable. The surface is also laser-cut to eliminate edge fraying. The Carbonic name comes from a repeating carbon fiber pattern that's supposed to enhance the mouse tracking. The XTracGear Carbonic carries an MSRP of $14.95 USD.

The XTracGear Ripper meanwhile is a large, professional mouse pad that is slightly more expensive at $21.95. The XTracGear Ripper features a polished textile surface, laser cut edges, and Sure Grip enhanced rubber backing like the Carbonic. The XTrac Ripper measures in at 11 x 17 inches.

The Ripper is also talked up as a whisper quiet mouse surface, feeling soft and silky, and as being a good choice for gamers who prefer low-sensitivity mouse settings.
