With Mesa 10.4 having recently been branched and Mesa 10.5-devel now the version for Mesa Git master, here's some benchmarks comparing the performance of the latest Git code compared to Mesa 10.3.0 as shipped in Ubuntu 14.10.

The Intel tests were done with an Intel Core i7 4770K system with HD Graphics 4600. Ubuntu 14.10 x86_64 was cleanly installed to the system and upgrading was done against the Linux 3.18 Git kernel. The first test run was done with stock Mesa 10.3.0 and its packaged xf86-video-intel 2.99.914 DDX and then the second run was done with the updated user-space stack: Mesa 10.5-devel and xf86-video-intel 2.99.916.

All of the Intel OpenGL Linux benchmarks in this article were facilitated using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software. A similar article using multiple AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards for Radeon/Nouveau Gallium3D testing will be published in the week ahead on Phoronix.
