While in the process of benchmarking BioShock Infinite on Linux with AMD and NVIDIA hardware given the Linux release of the title this week, I also took this opportunity to run a 22-way graphics card comparison of Metro Last Light Redux and Metro 2033 Redux on the latest AMD and NVIDIA graphics drivers atop Ubuntu 15.04. Here's those results.

As it's been a while since the last Metro Redux Linux benchmarking, I ran some fresh tests using the Catalyst 14.3 Beta driver as packaged on Ubuntu 15.04 and the latest NVIDIA binary blob, the NVIDIA 346.47 release. The same system and setup was used as the ongoing BioShock Infinite testing.

The twenty-two graphics cards used for testing ranged from old to new and low to high-end models. More NVIDIA graphics cards than AMD GPUs were tested simply due to NVIDIA sending out a lot more review sample hardware than AMD these days.

Unfortunately with Metro Redux built-in benchmark capabilities, there isn't a streamlined way to configure the game settings from the CLI thus for this testing it was bound to testing with the stock settings and running at the 2560 x 1600 native resolution of the panel being used. The Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux tests were handled in a fully-automated manner via the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software by simply triggering phoronix-test-suite benchmark metroll-redux metro2033-redux.
