A Wild 40-Way Linux System Benchmark Comparison

With recently having upgraded some of the systems in our benchmark lab, commissioned a few new systems, and made some other changes, for your weekend enjoyment are some fresh benchmarks of 40 distinctly different Linux systems various performance tests.

For some fun this weekend are benchmarks from 40 of the most interesting systems in our benchmarking basement server room (see the recent A One Year Redux On The Basement Computer Room For Benchmarking 50+ Systems Daily if you are new to Phoronix). The hardware platforms are different as are the software stacks, with running a variety of different distributions, kernels, compilers, etc. This 40-way comparison isn't meant to be a scientific comparison but just putting some rough numbers out there if you want to see how your own system(s) compare, etc.

If you do want to see how your own Linux hardware/software compares to the 40 systems, simply install the Phoronix Test Suite and run phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1605087-HA-WILDCOMPA12. It will carry out the tests in a fully-automated manner from start-to-finish with downloading and setting up the tests and executing them in the same manner as done locally.

Phoromatic is what I use in turn to then fully manage the benchmarking across the dozens of systems in a completely pain-free and streamlined manner.
