Total War: WARHAMMER NVIDIA Linux Benchmarks

With Feral Interactive releasing Total War: WARHAMMER for Linux this morning, you are probably curious how well this Linux OpenGL game port will perform with your graphics card prior to spending $60 USD for the game. Up now are my NVIDIA GeForce benchmarks for Total War: WARHAMMER on Ubuntu Linux with nine different graphics cards. In the hours ahead will be the relevant AMD tests with this newest AAA Linux game as soon as I finish up that testing.

To no surprise at all, Total War: WARHAMMER worked out fine with my NVIDIA Linux testing when using the proprietary driver. Cards tested met Feral's Linux system requirements for this game.

While Total War: WARHAMMER does have an integrated benchmark mode, sadly it cannot be command-line driven. With the lack of CLI toggles for being able to properly automate the benchmarking of this game, today is likely our first and last time running AMD/NVIDIA Linux tests for this game -- unless Feral releases an interesting update to this game, adds such CLI capabilities, there ends up being a Vulkan renderer down the road, or enough requests from our premium readers. So all of the NVIDIA tests for this article and the upcoming AMD article were done manually to satisfy those curious about the Total War: WARHAMMER Linux performance.

The graphics cards used for this article included GeForce GTX 950, GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 980 Ti, GTX 1050, GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, and GTX 1080. All tests were done using the Ubuntu 16.04 test system showcased here. Tests were done at 1080p and 4K with a variety of the visual quality preset levels offered from the in-game menu.
