Linux 4.11-rc1 + Mesa 17.1 Git Tests With AMDGPU+RadeonSI/RADV

With the Linux 4.11 merge window now closed and the RadeonSI shader cache having landed and even turned on by default, it's a great time to run some fresh benchmarks of the open-source AMD Linux graphics driver stack. Here are some benchmark results with the latest Mesa Git code for RadeonSI Gallium3D and RADV as well as the Linux 4.11-rc1 kernel compared to Linux 4.10.

We found some RADV Vulkan performance improvements when paired with Linux 4.11 already, so I was quite excited to run a fresh comparison with the latest Mesa Git and now that the DRM-Next changes are still present in the mainline tree. RADV Vulkan improvements in Dota 2 are still there along with a few OpenGL performance improvements.

Linux 4.10.1 vs. Linux 4.11-rc1 was compared while using Mesa Git from the Padoka PPA as of yesterday. These tests were done with a Radeon RX 460, RX 480, and R9 Fury graphics cards. All of the tests were carried out in a fully-automated and reproducible manner using the Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.
