Apple has a market cap or net worth of $3.37 trillion as of November 1, 2024. Its market cap has increased by 22.84% in one year.
Providing a indie startup with free labor is fantastic

And your objection to people doing what they deem worthwhile has exactly what basis?

+ Apple has no obligation to help nor recognize their effort

          Truth is bittersweet

Hopefully their effort will be rewarded one day.

I don't understand the hate. If Apple stops supporting these devices in a few years, consumers will have the option to continue using them.

Ultimately, you need to find out who is funding the work, before you can claim that it’s not Apple.

compared to the total lack of progress on Nvidia GPUs, it’s hard to believe that Apple are blocking this work.

This project has taken measures to protect themselves from potential lawsuits from Apple

Despite knowing there's risks involved, they've decided to pursue this project which ultimately brings more money to Apple

Considering the mind-boggling amount of money these companies posses, they have the means to provide compensation for their work without noticing any loss of revenue

Supporting rich companies which don't care about you sits wrong with many people

LOL. talk about mental gymnastics. try using critical thinking skills. Not only that, but your naivete completely falls short in understanding how publicly traded companies work.

How many people do you think have actually gone out and bought a Macbook because of Asahi Linux? Then, on the flipside, how many people do you think have repurposed their existing M1s because macOS kinda sucks? Speaking from experience: A lot more than bought macbooks just for Asahi. Then, to add on top, how many purchases on the App Store do you think are not being made since this effort helps get people off of macOS, costing Apple for each missed purchase? Who knows, but significantly greater than 0. I installed Asahi and haven't booted macOS since.

Not only does this not help Apple since Apple wants people on macOS and nothing else, but it helps a handful of Macbook owners, helps to keep these things out of landfills, and it's exactly none of your pointless business to judge what anyone else is spending their time doing. Find something productive to do with your time.

And if anyone else has a problem with what other people do with their time: Fuck you, you're losers, get a hobby.

Where do you think they're getting those trillions of dollars from? Because I promise you, it ain't the hardware.
Seeing as their hardware has rather thin margins, what better way to give Apple the middle finger than to use the hardware long after their arbitrary EOL using software that doesn't fund them at all?

Like it or not but Apple makes good hardware. There are compelling reasons to buy them.
