That DEs chart looks insteresting. Both Gnome and Unity spiked at about 50%, Gnome at year 2011 and only 6 years later Unity reached that

Maybe there is a trend to whoever touched half DE statistic to be killed off

I didn't include them for now since for generating vendor statistics, will need to do a bit more work... Only in ~2013 did I add AIB vendor reporting to complement the AMD/NVIDIA string reporting. So some years (or for those running outdated PTS clients) there is just AMD/NVIDIA reported while for others then there is MSI/ASUS/Gigabyte/etc. Basically just need to write a custom handler for dealing with the GPU data and haven't had the time to do that yet so will probably be in its own article in a few days.

Just look at steam survey, where already just first 4 cards represents majority:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060   14.61%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 13.27%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960    12.99%
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 10.62%

Summa summarum 51.59% . So there is trend that PC gaming majority picks up green $139 to $199 cards

Otherwise they pick PS4 or XBONE and that is about it

I mean, these cards are even somewhat in range of GPUs found in these consoles really as AAA gaming is mostly leaded by these.

So long story shortest if someone wanna short story about gaming majority, otherwise continue with minorities.

These are just more details what goes on, but roughly same story it is not affected by Meltdown, but by Spectre it is.

So if anything, these statistics seem to imply the rather obvious: Most users will stick to whatever their distros ship with. Specifically, whatever Ubuntu ships. If Ubuntu decided to adopt XFCE, it will rise to 60% of the market share within a year.
