Last week AMD released Radeon Software 18.10 as their latest official Linux driver release for what previously was referred to as "AMDGPU-PRO" while now also offers the "All-Open" driver option too. For our latest Linux GPU benchmarking is a look at how Radeon Software 18.10 with its closed-source OpenGL/Vulkan driver builds compare to that of the RadeonSI and RADV open-source drivers when testing from the Mesa 18.2-devel state.

I have a question. Is it possible to recover from hangs without rebooting?

Yea, that makes sense. These results look more like their Windows driver, while their open source Vulkan driver is more in line with Radv from what I've seen.

These benchmarks put a smile on my face

The Open Source driver is doing great. I'd say, overall, it's now a better pick than the proprietary driver for gaming even if you're someone who doesn't mind running proprietary code on your system. Go AMD!

the Mesa openGL driver is AMD's driver.

Their Vulkan driver has always been good. But the version they open sourced as amdvlk is slower, it performs like RadV.
