Phoronix: The Open-Source ARM Mali "Panfrost" Driver Now Supports Textures & More

The in-development Panfrost reverse-engineered, open-source driver for supporting ARM Mali T700 series graphics is now much more capable thanks to work carried out on their "half-way" Gallium3D driver in recent weeks...

Awesome Alyssa! Open Mali driver is really needed, as AllWinner chips are really cheap.

Cheap AllWinner SoCs are equipped with the ancient Mali-400 GPU, so this driver doesn't support them.

Just FYI, there is no AllWinner chips atm whose GPU might be supported by this driver. AllWinner chis use either old utgard 4x0 series or powervr IPs, while this driver targets newer midgard and bifrost micro-architectures.

AllWinner chips are cheap for a reason, hehe.

          ... AllWinner H6 mount a Mali-T720 MP2 at 600Mhz

However Mali 400 is supported by free software too.

I've not seen drivers for Mali400. There is stuff in development I think but it's not ready yet.

Lima gallium driver is near to RFC (see link)-
I've said MALI 400 is supported, not well supported.
"Panfrost" is in development but it's not ready yet too.
