how about gocryptfs, the spiritual successor of encfs - or what was it's name again? experiences, anyone? it's on my ”to test" list for some time, now.

Interesting benchmarks. I've been using LUKS encryption for at least 10 years. The performance penalty makes sense since it's doing two things at once. I guess I got used it and never really bothered to notice the difference.

These are really interesting but alarming results. Why does encryption introduce a performance hit at all?
