That patch-set by Red Hat's Olivier Fourdan is the XWayland EGLStreams support for letting the mainline XWayland code play happily with the NVIDIA proprietary driver in the absence of any unified successor to GBM/EGLStreams being yet available as the new "Unix device memory allocation API" that's long been talked about.
Doesnt that just mean that NVIDIA got what they wanted and they no longer have any incentive to help the new API come to fruition or make their stuff be compatible with it?

Absolutely not. Nvidia is the one pushing hardest for a successor to GBM and EGLStreams that can satisfy all parties involved. Supporting EGLStreams should be a stopgap measure, but if the GBM proponents dig in and adopt a, "GBM is good enough for us and screw anything else" attitude, it will be a really good thing that X.org was non-biased enough to support EGLStreams.

Hope there is soon a bug fix release for xorg 1.20, quite a lot of bugs have been introduced and they should be addressed sooner than later!

1.20 doesn't work with X11 at least not with Radeon HD3200 on-board graphics. Had to set acceleration to EXA as a workaround.
