      Every Mesa release ends up getting delayed by intel blocker bugs... This happened for the previous release too. Thanks intel...

        In Tumbleweed we are stuck at Mesa 18.1.7 because of failures in the tests. We hope this version solves the problems ....

          100% of what is listed for 18.3 is useless outside of platform hardware inclusion references or RADV which if you don't play games that leverages Vulkan is also adding nothing to the present desktop environment in Linux and/or its applications space.

          Is Vulkan being used to accelerate the general application space at a bare metal approach ala Metal 2 API does system-wide in macOS? No.

          Seriously, if it's all just about games then bfd.

          This list : https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pa...-18.3-Features

          shows a bunch of specialized improvements for specific hardware and kudos for that, but outside of EGL [which again if it's not Vulkan system-wide, bfd] how is Mesa 18.3 this big deal?

              Next gen desktops will be using Vulkan, it's already wired into Mutter for Gnome 4 and I'm sure Kwin won't be far behind - all the optimisations being worked on for games at the moments will eventually benefit everything that uses Vulkan - which will be more or less everything in the next decade

                Do you know what the problems are?
                I was wondering why no MESA update is rolling in...

                  I can not tell you exactly what the problems are, I should inform, what I know is that the tests fail, so it is not sent until the upstream corrections arrive.
                  EDIT.
                  In the Dominique report :
                  """Changes that are currently being staged and tested:

                  * glibc 2.28, Python 3.7, openssl 1.1.1: the three all interdepend on
                  each other and cause a bunch of new failures – See Staging:C
                  * LLVM7 / Mesa 18.2.x (rust fails to build with LLVM7)
                  * Installer redesign: the sidebar is coming back (showing where in
                  the installation workflow one is currently)
                  * PostgreSQL 11
                  * KDE Plasma 5.14.4"""

                    Thanks.
                    I found an old link: http://tumbleweed.boombatower.com/

                    So, it seems tumbleweed will skip MESA 18.2 completely and go on with 18.3
