Phoronix: The Linux Vendor Firmware Service Has Served Up More Than 5 Million Firmware Files

The Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS), which serves up system BIOS/firmware files from many different vendors as well as various devices so that hardware can see firmware updates under Linux and be updated via Fwupd, has served up more than five million firmware images...

It so cool. Recently bought a new laptop. Installed fedora. Got a bios update in gnome-software. Soon I won't need the bios.iso to bios.img, dd to usb-stick dance for thinkpads anymore in my company (at I always found relatively nice to have bios updates under linux at all)

Would be nice if LVFS would start to get used for servers as well.

I just wanted to take a look at that repo since the stable ones don't offer my hardware any updates. There is actually a bug report about it, but it has been closed https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/issues/391
