Phoronix: Debian 10 "Buster" Currently Defaults To GNOME On Wayland, But That Still Could Change

As it stands now the upcoming release of Debian 10 "Buster" will provide a default desktop of the GNOME Shell running atop Wayland, but that still could change with a Debian developer suggesting the experience might not be good enough for this next release that they would be better off still using the X.Org Server...

GNOME on Wayland is great if you happen to have the right hardware. I know a lot of people still have issues though so reverting to X.org is probably the right decision for Debian.

It should default to MATE on X.Org.

It should default to the future oriented Wayland and bugs should be fixed. The more people are using it, the more focus it will get from hardware vendors as well. People stuck in the past can manually change to X.org.

Default? Debian lets you choose during install.

Should be default, the more people use it, the more bugs can be discovered and fixed.

Yes, and one of those choices is considered default and is installed for those users whom simply click "next" without selecting one of the non-defaults first

As long as they don't use XFCE, we can all agree that debianxfce is the worst

IBM must have done this evil deed, nobody else supports Wayland
