Phoronix: Cascade Lake vs. Rome With MrBayes, dav1d 0.5, OSPray, SVT-VP9, OIDn + Other Benchmarks

While swapping around CPUs for the AMD EPYC vs. Intel Xeon Cascade Lake testing of Facebook's RocksDB enterprise workload testing, I also took the opportunity for running some other recently updated test profiles on these EPYC/Xeon parts under test...

These numbers stand for themselves, no wonder why Rome should be very popular in servers right now.

Hell they would be great in certain workstation loads.

AMD has finally given us real choice across the board. This is what should be making people happy, the absolute performance numbers aren’t as important has giving Intel a competitive run.

"The only exception -- and where the Xeon Platinum performance was leading -- was when testing the "magnetic reconnection" scene that seems to do extremely well on Intel CPUs possibly due to hitting some AVX-512 fast paths well or so."

Ok, something in that test is showing clearly suspicious numbers. How it is possible that all the three Zen2 CPUs, despite their different clocks and core count, show the very same number? Hitting some AVX fast paths is not an answer, a serious reviewer have had to check in what went on. Put that way is just pushing out senseless numbers.
