Quite a while ago, Wine developers announced Wayland support as their future plan. Is anyone working on that?

Ignoring the Weasel trolls, looks like someone is working on it after all, but not from Codeweavers.

Alexandre Julliard would be the person you are thinking of.

No its not a nightmare but you have to think about the developer who suggested. Remember Alexandre Julliard suggested working Android support in 2013 for wine. Yes wine project have a APK but we don't have really fully working wine on Android yet.

Alexandre Julliard being project lead is very busy. So he suggest something and no one less jumps in you might as well say it going to be at-least 10 years. Wine project project lead saying a future plan means distance future not near future in almost every case. Yes 10 years is on the optimistic side one feature from a Wine Conference Alexandre suggested only took 15 years to come reality. So more Slowpoke Rodriguez than Speedy Gonzales.

Nice to see some other developer with time deciding to pick up the work. Particularly when you understand the time frames Alexandre works by.

To be fair to Alexandre WINE is probably the hardest piece of engineering going on in the FOSS world.
