Phoronix: RADV Driver Adds VK_EXT_line_rasterization In Preparing For Eventual Vulkan CAD Apps

Added to the Vulkan API last summer was VK_EXT_line_rasterization for line rasterization like employed by CAD applications. The open-source Mesa Radeon Vulkan "RADV" driver is now supporting this extension...

What's the best CAD FOSS software available?

Does any more CAD software plans to transition to Vulkan?

Kicad, I guess. Freecad isn't too bad either, but has an unusual workflow.

KiCAD appears to be for PCB layout only. Is there no real alternative to Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks?

I don't know which is the best. I use LibreCAD (https://librecad.org/). It does what I need...

For 3D modelling there is only FreeCAD and OpenSCAD afaik.

The most pointless extension ever. Vulkan should be free of any drawing primitive functions nonsense or it will end up as OpenGL imho - too big/difficult to implement drivers for.

Those are actually line segments. Lines extend infinitely in both directions.
