    Isn't strange, that Windows 2004 will be released 17 years after Windows 2003? :-)

      Can WSL2 run systemd yet?

      I'm not rewriting my unit files.

          Thanks. I'll be sure to try WSL 2 VM in a Windows 10 v2004 VM on my Linux machine. Nested VMs for the win.

            Why it isn't vice versa? Linux would be primary/host OS, and windows would start as secured/sandboxed guest... For average professional user,... There's literally less than ten applications, which work only on windows, and are required (or are heavily better than alternatives) for work... So, why compromise Linux's security by running it within windows,...?

              Because it's Windows not Linux?

                  running systemctl --version on WSL2 on my Windows PC outputs the following
                  Code:
                  $ systemctl --version
                  systemd 242 (242)

                  so maybe that's a yes?

                    The idea is that everything should just run -- WSL2 is a more-or-less regular kernel inside a lightweight VM, where as WSL1 was a translation layer between linux system calls and the windows kernel. That's why some lower-level Linux stuff (e.g. docker) didn't run in WSL1; WSL2 means to fix that.
