Phoronix: IWD Linux Wireless Daemon Adds Full MAC Randomization, Override Support

Intel's IWD wireless daemon for Linux systems has added full MAC randomization support as well as manual MAC override capabilities, similar to the MAC spoofing capabilities generally offered by other Linux networking components...

This is great, congratulations to the developers!
But talking about the privacy, how is the situation with IPv6 derived from MAC address ?
If one changes or enables the random MAC address, will the associated IPv6 address change ?

A pity that I never got it running on Ubuntu 19.04, neither self-compiled nor with the official package.

For me, setting AddressOverride on a per network basis would be more useful.
So I can say: use this address for this network, where I need a static address, and randomize everywhere else.

Still not working on my two computers... Developers should pay more attention to better compatibility with various wifi card models.

Have you opened any detailed bug reports on these issues? Where are they? Can you provide links to your reports?

That's weird, there are tutorials for Ubuntu 19.10 though, so when you update it will probably work https://blobfolio.com/2019/10/replac...n-ubuntu-eoan/

what wifi cards, and what error it is giving.

Afaik iwd does not care about wifi hardware at all, just like wpa_supplicant.

This exact functionality is part of these recent patches. I have written a new wiki page going into further detail about these options:
