Phoronix: Systemd 246 Is On The Way With Many Changes

With it already having been a few months since systemd 245 debuted with systemd-homed, the systemd developers have begun their release dance for what will be systemd 246...

    - systemd-homed LUKS back-end now discards empty file system blocks automatically when a user logs out. Systemd-homed now also better prevents accidentally double encrypting user data.

Isn't that a security issue? Discarding on encrypted volume then give information to forensic about where there is and is not data.

More a plausible deniability issue than security. Does not make decryption any easier.

Wrong interpretation: It does its job quietly so there is not much to rant about. Never had a problem with systemd - ever. Just works (tm).

ok, let's say it works 99.9% of the times
            anyway, systemd is great!

Those of us who take the time to educate ourselves about systemd's problems have so many better alternatives that we simply no longer care.

Ok let's use this thread to ask a simple technical question. One of the alleged advantages of systemd is not having to rely on .pid file to terminate processes, which is associated with race conditions (process died then another process took the same pid) but when I look at some systemd unit files, they use .pid files to kill processes ! So what ? .pid files are still necessary or people just do not write unit files correctly ?

Ooh, nice features in this release!

                    - A new hardware database file that collections information on PCI and USB devices that correctly auto-suspend.
This one is especially good. Although IIRC wasn't there already some list of devices and rules like this?
