Following the recent alpha debut of the openSUSE Jump distribution for testing that is working to synchronize SUSE Linux Enterprise with openSUSE Leap, there was an inquiry made about the performance of it. So for addressing that premium member's question, here are some benchmarks carried out recently of the latest openSUSE Leap 15.2 against the openSUSE Jump in its early state against the rolling-release openSUSE Tumbleweed.

I was expecting Leap and Jump to be mirrors of one another performance-wise. Surprised that Leap was beating Jump more often than not.

Not surprised that Tumbleweed kicked more ass. Rolling Release FTW

This is similarly what users can find out of say using the latest Fedora release over Red Hat Enterprise Linux, albeit without the support and enterprise guarantees.

Microsoft never owned SUSE. Novell bought SUSE. Attachmate bought Novell. As part of that deal, Microsoft kicked in $450M for 882 Novell patents through a consortium they led. Micro Focus merged with Attachmate and spun out SUSE into its own division. EQT purchased SUSE from Micro Focus.
