Phoronix: Valve Revises Steam's December 2020 Linux Marketshare To 0.74%

The numbers Steam posted on New Year's Day for the December 2020 Linux gaming marketshare showed a drop of 0.33% down to just 0.57%. That is a rather large drop but now Valve has updated their numbers and point to Linux still regressing percentage wise but not as bad as originally reported...

Something is obviously wrong with the steam stats this month, look at the sharp change in many trends including AMD's CPU and GPU market share.

"Cyberpun 2077" is quite an interesting typo.

It looks like a half of those new Chinese users were just bots or something, 47.18% (+30.22) dropped to just 31.07% (+11.88).

Can't wait to see Michael go visit GOL and start begging for donations.

If you look at it another way, Steam hit 25 million concurrent users when it was at 18 m exactly one year ago. So while Linux usage is not keeping the pace it is growing nonetheless.

                    Dec 2019 18 * 0.0083 = 149K Linux players
                    Dec 2020 25 * 0.0074 = 185K Linux players
