      So this would be for SSD and NVMe drives that don't manage blocks on their own? What are some examples of brands and models? I've been reading more recently about how SSDs usually have their own layer of opaque logic that does what it wants independently of the filesystem, which is somewhat worrisome.

        No brands or models. This is for flash storage in embedded systems.
