    To experience it, we need the support in libinput which is still MIA.

      Apple touchpad support using libinput is kind of broken...

      When I try to use it, sometimes it will stop "tracking" my finger.
      It appears that if libinput finds a finger size that is too small or too big (this could happen spontaneously e.g. from clicking or click-dragging), it will unregister the finger. It gets very annoying.

        I cannot confirm that on a Magic Trackpad 2.

          This is on the touchpad of the 2012 MacBook Pro.

          Edit: It appears this issue is caused by a poor palm detection algorithm.
          A workaround is to change line 10 in /usr/share/libinput/50-system-apple.quirks:

          AttrPalmSizeThreshold=800

          to

          AttrPalmSizeThreshold=8000

          This may break palm recognition, but it will fix the issue (I don't place my palm on the touchpad anyway).
