Phoronix: Valve Lands Another Radeon Vulkan Performance Optimization For An "Upcoming Game"

Yesterday just hours after writing about a RADV optimization by Valve for an "upcoming game" to nearly match the performance they see under Windows, another performance improvement for an "upcoming game" has been merged...

Once FSR3.0 comes out, anything with RDNA GPU's in it may get a very nice boost going forward.
Even consoles will be able to use those solutions to double framerates. Only question remaining is how good does it look?!

Not so long as Valve can keep raking in the $$$ from Steam & DOTA without doing any real work. Maybe if they can figure out how to take a HL game and "improve it" by adding some kind of subscription feature.

After HL:Alyx Valve said they had renewed focus on developing more games: https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/08...0a1309360008ed

Hopefully so. Been craving for more Valve games and about time we get more than just more cosmetics and new l̶o̶o̶t̶b̶o̶x̶e̶s̶ cases.

This patch applies cleanly over 23.1.0-rc2

For all we know, Valve is just helping some studio optimize for the Steam Deck on launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 became quite snappy with proton-8 and the latest mesa on navi10. Maybe the phantom liberty dlc...I know not Valve and also not a "new" game. But CP2077 got some substantial improvements which is surprising after 2 years on the market.
