Whelp. Was going to start messing around with Gentoo and 6.9 but with their Wiki seemingly breaking down http://www.reddit.com/r/Gentoo/s/XvQKLNc75r and this being superfresh, may as well wait a bit eh?

Hoping Dragon Range laptop CPUs/GPU combos keep getting improved functionality and stability as future stuff gets announced….

Just take the tarball from kernel.org, extract and compile.

I don't get why it's called a release candidate when it just... isn't. There's no timeline where 6.9-rc2 becomes the official 6.9 with no additional work.

It's not worth changing now but "beta", "preview" or "test release" would be more accurate names. I think Minecraft uses "pre-release" to signify "we're almost done".

I completely agree; “release candidates” 1-6 are not candidates for the final release. Apple calls their release candidates “Gold Master”, which is also kind of weird.

Stupid question where can i get the Ubuntu sources to compile myself or have a precompiled kernel like a roling release if there is something like that?

If i use the git methode the build allways fails there are no keys or it just throws compiler errors.

6.9 looks pretty stable. I'm not getting the freezes I had in 6.7 and 6.8

I've had no issues with the -rc1 release. Was faster than 6.8 stable. Was expecting no issues moving onto the -rc2 release. Surprised the maintainers pulled a library dependency from numbat this release.

I wonder if Linus added any Easter eggs to this version for us to discover?

Or is that RedHat's job now?
