I wish Coreboot would work on the Dell XPS "Sputnik" developer laptop or the Macbook.

Would be nice (coreboot does not have the aggravation of most UEFI firmwares), but it's wildly unlikely. People want a laptop, not a desktop.

Desktop in general is retreating slowly back to workstations and gaming.

Therefore, Google has no good reason to.

As I said: "Desktop in general is retreating slowly back to workstations and gaming."

Google chromesomethings are aimed at home users or average consumer or students, since people in that market segment overwhelmingly buy laptops.

Of course other market segments still buy desktops, but ChromeOS would not sell at all in there just because it is not Windows.
