Phoronix: Intel Core i7 7700K Linux Benchmarks

If you have been curious how well Intel's new Core i7 7700K "Kabylake" processor performs under Linux, I received this CPU a few days ago and have begun putting it through its paces. Here are my initial i7-7700K Linux benchmarks compared to various other Intel CPUs running Clear Linux.

I'd like to see a comparison with other Linux distributions, if possible. Given the "Windows 10 only" status of Kaby Lake (JayzTwoCents, Youtube reviewer, made a test/review with Windows 8.1 with unexpected BSOD already), I really wonder if Intel added a set of kernel patches to Clear Linux to make sure *their" distribution works, or if Linux, yet again, "Just works" out of the box!...

Kabylake does work on other distributions like Fedora and Ubuntu, as mentioned in previous articles. A multi-way distro comparison with the 7700K will come in time.

In bad news intel dont show pentium kabylake unlocked for now, this could be pentium g3258 succesor

Thanks for add single thread tests however can add pentium g3258 oc (4.0ghz or more are acceptable)

And the winner is... Core i5 6600K

No kidding. Apart from a handful of tests which clearly benefit from the extra threads, all of the i5 models (even the 6500) are quite competitive with the i7 7700K, and the 6600K beats the newer 7600K in several cases. In terms of bang-for-buck, it's no contest...

we did not need any KBL specific kernel patches; all needed drivers/etc were already upstream well before we picked up the upstream 4.9 kernel
