Phoronix: Linux 4.15 Is Off To A Busy Start

As expected, the Linux 4.15 merge window is proving to be very action-packed with a lot of new code being queued for this next kernel release and we are less than 48 hours into this two week cycle...

On 4.14 , i still can't control my laptops keyboard backlight. I hope they can fix that on 4.15.

Or where should i report it? Asus Fx553VD - it came preloaded with Endless OS by the way which i was surprised.

If it's an upstream kernel bug: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/

Yes , it is. I've installed 4.14 via Ukuu , otherwise Mint provides up to 4.13.

Can you still control the backlight with the OS settings? Because if you cannot control it at all then it might be an ACPI table issue.
(ACPI tables are used by the laptop's firmware to communicate hardware-specific features to the kernel)

Does dmesg | grep acpi show? any errors?

Still something to report to linux kernel ACPI project (as they can and do workaround crap and bugs in ACPI tables, since they can't fix the tables themselves, as they are part of the UEFI firmware). https://bugzilla.kernel.org/describe...i?product=ACPI

My screen backlight and it's FN keys are working.

My keyboard has LED backlight and it has a function which you can turn it on or off via it's FN keys but they're not working but system recognizes them when i pressed like that.

And yeah , there are some errors on dmesg. Can you guide me about how to report them?

            Here they are.

            [ 0.030234] ACPI Error: [PRT0] Namespace lookup failure, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20170728/dswload-378)
            [ 0.039381] ACPI Error: 1 table load failures, 10 successful (20170728/tbxfload-246)
            [ 0.454374] acpi PNP0A08:00: _OSC failed (AE_ERROR); disabling ASPM
[ 1.638832] RAS: Correctable Errors collector initialized.
            [ 9.497123] EXT4-fs (sda2): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro
