Unvanquished Reaches Alpha 9 State
Unvanquished, one of the few open-source game projects to actually deliver fairly good graphics quality and art assets, is out with another monthly alpha release.
Last month's release worked on its GL3 renderer with the game engine being derived from id Tech 3 along with the XreaL renderer enhancements.
The Unvanquished Alpha 9 release that happened on Sunday brings in a new map, two updated maps, various art updates, a motion-sensing radar, translation support, a HUD menu, MD5 model improvements to improve the speed on slower CPUs, and lots of bug-fixes.
More details on the Unvanquished Alpha 9 and to download it for your favorite operating system, check out the release announcement.
Unvanquished with its GL3 renderer is nearly reaching a state where it will be incorporated into the Phoronix Test Suite / OpenBenchmarking.org for being used in future GPU / driver comparisons.
