AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Benchmarks On 11 Linux Distributions
When looking at the geometric mean for the dozens of benchmarks carried out on all 11 Linux distributions under test, Clear Linux was the fastest on this AMD Ryzen 9 3900X followed by Debian 10.0, Solus 4.0, and Debian Testing.
For first place finishes, Clear Linux came out in first place 37% of the time. On most Intel systems meanwhile we commonly see Clear Linux lead by ~60%+, but still this Intel-optimized Linux distribution performs very strongly on AMD Zen 2. Also keep in mind during this testing that Clear Linux had to be tested with the Corsair Force MP500 while all other Linux distributions were tested with the newer (and faster) MP600 but Clear not currently working with that newer driver due to its power management adjustments. Debian 10.0 came in second with first place finishes 16% of the time and openSUSE Tumbleweed winning 11% of the time,
Coming up next for our AMD Ryzen 9 3900X benchmarking will be looking at the DragonFlyBSD and FreeBSD performance.
