Acer AL1732 Prestige

In the past at Phoronix we have examined multiple LCD displays from Acer's Value Line, however, today we are back again with Acer as we take a look at one of their alternative series -- the Prestige. The model we will be looking at today is the Acer AL1732 Prestige, which packs more than simply good looks at an amazing price. Among the many features for this 17" monitor are DVI and VGA input, rear-cable management, integrated speakers, metal stand, stylish looks, high-brightness LCD, anti-reflective coating, Kensington lock, PC and Mac compatible, VESA wall-mountable, auto-tune feature, and a friendly OSD interface. Some of the specifications for the unit include a 0.264 mm pixel pitch, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 500:01:00 contrast ratio, 140° / 140° typical viewing angle, 8ms typical response time, 2 x 2W speakers, and 50W LCD power consumption. When it came to the Acer AL1732, the included components were one DVI cable, one VGA cable, one power cord with AC/DC power adapter, one audio cable, Acer quick installation guide and CD, warranty pamphlet, and finally the 17" Prestige monitor. Contained on the Acer CD were the user's manual, quick start guide, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. The contents we came across are pretty much standard for this type of LCD monitor, and we were glad to see Acer include the necessary DVI cable as in the past we have seen a few manufacturers skip in this area. All of these cables were individually packaged in plastic. When it came to the packaging of the actual monitor, it was surrounded in a layer of foam while two large chunks of Styrofoam kept the unit from moving when inside the cardboard container. Covering the face of the monitor itself was yet another layer of plastic. The remainder of the contents was inside of a smaller cardboard package. Like the Acer AL1714 and AL1715, the packaging with the AL1732 was certainly reliable and we had run into no troubles when receiving the display. As the Acer Prestige Line uses a metal stand, and all around very high quality parts, the LCD came assembled and required nothing more than connecting the various cables.
