One of the areas where Intel Comet Lake came out ahead was in the cryptography benchmarks using John The Ripper, cryptsetup, and Nettle.

The Core i9 10900K also offered stronger performance over the Ryzen 9 3900XT in the imaging class workloads, many of which are single-threaded. This included the tests of Inkscape, GMIC, RawTherapee, GIMP, Darktable, GEGL, and AVIFENC.

The Java performance when using OpenJDK 11 across all tested systems is where the Intel Comet Lake CPUs were also faster than the Zen 2 CPUs with the DaCapo Benchmark and Java Gradle build tests.

When looking at the molecular dynamics workloads including NAMD, GROMACS, Cloverleaf, and LAMMPS, the Zen 2 CPUs returned to offering sizable leads particularly with the Ryzen 9 3900XT offering nearly 11% higher performance over the Core i9 10900K.
